Peter Jackson To Direct The Hobbit Movie? – Peter Jackson is attempting to take over “The Hobbit,” a movie that has had preparations stalled in recent weeks after Guillermo Del Toro abandoned the project after a number of delays.Jackson who is the man behind the three installments of the “Lord of the Rings” is already in negotiations to step into the director’s chair for the two part movie and is speaking with Warner Bros on the matter.

The high budget endeavor has been green lighted for quite some time, but has faced a number of delays throughout the process.
The movie will be based on the 1937 book by J.R.R. Tolkien. The books, which were a huge success in their own right, spawned three very successful movies. “The Hobbit,” will likely be shot in two segments, back to back, in New Zealand, the home nation of Peter Jackson. MGM has been having a very public struggle financially and kept pushing the project back .

Del Toro left the movie last month after two years of pre-production. He never even got to shoot one scene in his time in the director’s chair. This upset many who were anxiously awaiting another movie to be set in Middle Earth. Jackson and his creative team have reportedly already been to Los Angeles to look for potential actors.
