Fast Five Strong Debut On Box Office
It looks like the Vin Diesel, Duane “The Rock” Johnson flick “Fast Five” has fired up the box office with racing speed with an estimated $34 million on Friday estimating it will bring in $80 million over the weekend.
Following was Blue Sky Studio/Fox’s “Rio” the animated leader of two top 1 spots with $5 million, Tyler Perry’s Mmadea’s Big Happy Family with $4 million and finally Water for Elephants and Prom.
The Fast and the Furious franchise of street racing mayhem has now eclipsed itself as fans of Diesel and The Rock are piling in to see their heroes in even bigger action.
It’s no doubt it’s the box office champ this weekend and will have to pull out the clutch and put the pedal to the medal with the upcoming Thor movie next weekend which is expected to be one of the top movies of the year next to the final Harry Potter movie, Transformers 3, Cars 2, and the other surprises.
With the wondering about other comic book superhero fare such as Captain America and Green Lantern, the box office is either going to break records or come close.
However, due to the devastation from the recent tornadoes many movie goers who would have been at the theaters either have no theaters to go to or are spending money to help family, neighbors and friends.
So Fast Five is fast enough but this coming week it will have to kick up some speed to outpace Thor.
